33w5d Update

Hi All,

Babies are measuring just under 6lbs by now and everyone is doing well. I had my ultrasound on Monday and my NST this morning and everyone is great. It's a pain in the ass going to the doctor weekly and to the hospital weekly, but I have to say, it's so rewarding and wonderful to see my babies every week and to hear their lovely heartbeats every couple of days. Just Fantastic. Because you know, once you lose a baby, you never think you'll actually have a LIVE one. Kara died just 12 days before her date...and I'm 16 days away from my actualy c-section date. I am nervous as hell and constantly poking and prodding my belly when the kids stop moving. But I'm good today - because they were moving like crazy during the NST, heartrates were great, and after a nice big lunch of Mexican food, they're dancing up a storm in there!

I'm getting really excited. I think this might actually happen. My husband and I are generally nervous wrecks, but every few days we get that reassurance, and it's good for another couple of days. Speaking of my husband, I couldn't have asked for a better man to be married to for the rest of my life. Seriously folks, he is just awesome. Two years ago in May, one month before we lost Kara, he sold his business and decided to go back for his Executive MBA, a 2-year program. The plan was to go back to work sometime during his second semester, but it never happened. He got so engrossed in his schoolwork, that he never went back to work. Now he's graduated (as of last month) and the man is waiting to job hunt until the babies come. He wants to be at my beck & call, running up & down the stairs for me, getting my drinks, doing the dishwasher, driving me EVERYWHERE, doing all of the things I really can't be doing anymore. And I must say, I'm really liking it. Come August, he'll probably be working 80-100 hours a week again and commuting into NYC, but for now, I'll cherish every moment we have together. It really is wonderful.

My mom's been really wonderful also. She comes up once weekly to do laundry, unpack shipments of baby goods and generally put the finishing touches on the nursery, etc. This week she brought some food and took care of all of my plants, etc. I am very lucky I have people taking such good care of me. And for once in my life, I'm actually accepting of their help. (I really don't have a choice as I physcially can't do much anymore.) This week, my mom brought up valances that she made for the nursery. Since both babies will share a room for a few years, I had to pick colors that went with both bedding sets. The valances look amazing and I'm so pleased! Lime green with a pink & green trim - just beautiful.

Oh, and I finally got cortisone shots in my hands for the edema. Let's just say that I'm SO relieved to be able to use my hands again. It's amazing - within 24 hours I was able to curl my fingers again. Wow. Now if i could only get the same shots in my hips! :-)

Hopefully I'll have a belly shot taken over the weekend for a post next week.

That's such a fantastic weight they're at.
So happy you can get some reassurance from their weekly hospital visits.
Great husbands are to be treasured as the rarity they are.
Wishing you all the best,

Anna
