We had our last OB appointment today - YAY! I walked into the waiting room and saw a newborn sitting in his carseat and my heart jumped - it's the first real excitement I've felt this entire pregnancy. I mean, I know they're in there, but seeing a real baby? well, that just made my heart go thump! I can't believe I will have two of them next week!
So, onto the ultrasound. The U/S tech is not a friendly one - she doesn't put the back up high enough for me and I always come close to passing out while laying down - then asked why were were going at 36 weeks when they NEVER take babies at 36 weeks. I had to respond that 'If you read my chart, you'd know that I had a stillbirth at 37.5 weeks, yadda yadda, etc.' Can I just say that I HATE how they don't ready your freakin' chart? I mean, come on. I've had ultrasounds with her at least half the time I've been scanned and there's plenty of time to read the damn chart. Anyway - babies are measuring 6lb14oz and 7lbs! No wonder I can't move!!! So - we're projecting around 7.5lbs upon birth - we shall see.
I'm starting to get excited. I'm still nervous as hell that they will die before next Monday - but each time I get those reassuring kicks, I feel better about their chances to get here safely.

WOW - how exciting. Soon you will be holding your precious babies. I am amazed that they are so big!. I am very, very excited for you and am holding you close in my thoughts and prayers. It's so sad that your ultrasound tech is so clueless, but soon you will be done with her and all this waiting. I cannot wait to hear the wonderful news that the babies are safe in your arms. Huge hugs to you.
Those are some big twins! I can't believe you'll be having them next Monday already! I am so excited for you.
Stupid tech. If she didn't know the reason, she had no business making a dumb remark. I'm glad you responded the way you did.
Enjoy this final week and I'm praying your babies arrive safely and you have a wonderful birth experience. Take total advantage of the postpartum hospital time - use the nurses and staff as you need them!
Seriously, what is with the whole not reading the chart thing? I had ultrasounds every four weeks from 20 weeks and I reckon I had to tell my story Every. Single. Time. It never gets easier yet it could be made SO much easier if medical professionals took a couple of minutes to glance over things.
Ugh.
Thinking of you and those babies.
xo
OHHHHHH i am so excited for you. Great heathy weights - you have done such an amazing job!!
The tech is an idiot and should be made to wear a badge that says "hi, i'm an idiot'
All my thoughts and support and love are with you, and the little ones and your hubby.
Whoop!!!
You have got some hearty babies in there!
I try very hard to read each of my patients' charts before they come in, and pay attention to any loss, any family history, anything that might help. I'm sorry your tech was clueless. UGH.
Can't wait to hear your updates!
I'm glad they're growing so well! I'm thinking about you, hubs, and babies every day. Email if you want/need anything.
We saw several MFMS docs and each time, we had to go over the entire story about Aidan. It was awful. I don't know why they won't read the #$%^& charts!
I'm so excited for you!!
xoxoxo,

that tech sounds like a pain...
it sounds like your babies are going to be big and healthy!!! yay!!! I am so excited for you that you felt some excitement!
I will guess they'll be about 6.5lbs at birth.
Also, I wanted to ask... were you prescribed progesterone (p-17) shots during this pregnancy?
If you reply here or address it in a later posting I would be grateful.
(I'm only asking to find out how your twin pregnancy was managed).
So happy you've reached this point. Holding my breath till you bring them home.
Best wishes,
Anna
Anna - in response to your question about progesterone - I went through IVF so I was on progesterone shots for quite some time. If you have any other questions, email me at mommytokara@gmail.com
Thanks very much for replying.
Will do.
Best wishes,
Anna
